A weekly recap of sports teams at Foothill High School. Coaches, captains, and players are encouraged to send detailed team information and stats to sports@fhspress.com.

Football

Last Friday marked the start for our fall sports season. Mustang football kicked off the season to a great start, winning in both games for Friday night football.

The JV Mustangs took it to the El Dorado Cougars, effectively shutting them out on their turf, with a 36-0 win. It is a great start for the beginning of the season, and we will see if they can keep it up.

The varsity Mustangs started off the scoring, with a 52-18 win against a humbled Cougar team. Lead by Dillon Paris at halfback totaling almost 250 yards, with three touchdowns in the game, the offense was in sync as they outscored the Cougars in every single quarter. Leading the Defense in tackles was B.J. Johnson at defensive end. Having 11 total tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery, and blocking a punt to start the season off. With a strong offense having capabilities to score as it pleases, and a formidable defense that has the ability to stop an opponent in its tracks, a good Mustang season is more than possible.

Boys Soccer

With a game scheduled for today, boys soccer is ready to play. Going up against a long-time rival, Rio Linda, our team is in good shape for a win. The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m., with varsity to take to the Foothill stadium at 7:00 p.m. With the goal of having another PVL championship under their belts, going for back-to-back championships is attainable with our strong varsity team.

Cross Country

Cross Country is set to have their first invitational at Renfree Park, this Thursday. Lead by senior captain
Jake Larson, our Mustang runners are ready for a successful season, with the hopes of going to Sections. With the runners we have this season, nothing is impossible with this group.

Volleyball

Volleyball takes to the court for their first game on Thursday. Our Lady Mustangs will be playing at San Juan. "The team is strong this year, and I expect great accomplishments from them, with the possibility our winning our league," says senior
Charis Abrams. With the team ready to take the league by storm, expect to see a new championship banner by the end of the year.

Water Polo

Water Polo was a question at the beginning of the year. Early tales of it being cut circulated through the school, but with the push of its players, the team had its first practice yesterday.
