Sports make some of the best moments in our lives - provide us with conversation when all other topics are exhausted - give us something to share with people, allow us to forge connections and friendships where usually we wouldn't.
Sports mean different things to different people. To some, they are a fun thing to do in their spare time with friends, to others they're just something to watch, and to some, sports are life.
"They mean everything to me," stated Karla Rodriquez. "It's a way of expressing your-self."
For some, sports are a ticket to a career, for others, a chance for greatness. For many, sports are a ticket to stay out of a bad neighborhood, or an unsafe household.
"They keep you out of trouble," said Darnell Powell. "keeps you busy and away from the craziness of home and away from the drama at school."
It's much more than just a game for some individuals. They're an opportunity that many teens take advantage of.
"Sports mean a lot to me," said Jaughn Freeman. "It's an outlet that lets me be more than just a student and to be part of something bigger."
Athletics play such an important role within our culture. It's the only source of entertainment that truly symbolizes the essence and uncertainty of life.
