Imagine standing outside of a grocery store with an apron full of candy and a donation box in your hands. Seems like a simple action, but Foothill High School's California Scholarship Federation (CSF) student members looked forward to lending a hand and helping support Knights of Columbus each school year.
Knights of Columbus was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick and/or disabled members and their families. One weekend out of the year, CSF members participate in Knights of Columbus charity by volunteering to raise money in front of the assigned grocery store. Students offer each customer that walks in a piece of candy, and if the customer sees the donation box, they donate money.
"I always look forward to the Knights of Columbus event, because it is a great way to give back to the community," said Hyatt Freeman.
Knights of Columbus is a great way for CSF to become involved with the community, and for students to do constructive work outside of their classroom. By doing charity with Knights of Columbus, students are able to help support the needy and their families.
"I admire Knights of Columbus because they keep their promise about supporting and encouraging those in need," said Maria Nguyen.
