Coach Chris Johnson has been coaching for eight years now. He started off coaching in the semi-professional ranks for a few different teams. Before getting into coaching, Johnson was a professional athlete playing in the NFL, NFL Europe, XFL, and AFL. Coach Johnson's love for the game goes without question. He enjoys being around his players and teaching the game of football. He looks forward to coming out to the field to work with players, and he considers it an honor to be the head coach for the Mustangs. —KACIE READSHAW Photo by Josh Bergeron. |

After the fourth game of the season, the Mustangs had a change in coaching. The previous head coach, Scott Swartz, had to leave Foothill High School due to the inability to find a job as a physical education teacher in the region. He had to leave the Mustangs for the benefit of his family, so he took a job in Utah.

So the football team called an audible and named assistant coaches Jesse Phillips and Chris Johnson as interim co-head coaches. According to Johnson, he will handle on-field decisions while Phillips will take on the administrative duties.
"The team needed the change," said Coach Phillips in an interview with fhspress.com. "We are a different type of animal now and the league better watch out."
Phillips is bringing a new philosophy to Foothill High School football.
"Hard work and determination produce results, every day each player will have opportunities to succeed, all they need to do is take that opportunity."
