There is a new computer system for keeping track of money in the front office at Foothill High School. It is called Tracks. Tracks is a great system for students, teachers, and administration to deposit money without the money getting lost.
Teachers used to keep receipt books and money locked up in their rooms, or even at home. Anything can happen with the money during the night or weekends. Most teachers don't want the responsibility of handling money and having to repay the money that was lost, or stolen.
"Tracks is a system for the student body and administration to keep track of money," said Yolanda Lombardo, the school’s bookkeeper. "If the students' advisor does not want to take the money, the students can come to me and I can put the money in Tracks."
Overall, there are more positives than negatives, according to Lombardo.
POSITIVES
- No collecting money from teachers
- No counting money
- Just depositing and dropping the money in the system
- Easy to use
- Some advisors already know how to use it
- Easy for students to use
NEGATIVES
- When computer is down, Tracks is down
- If student is not in the system, he or she has to be put into the system manually
Tracks is a great way for the students to purchase various items at Foothill. Not only does it make the bookkeeper’s life easier, it helps with efficiency and accountability.
