Another blood drive at Foothill High School went on in the small gym on January 2. Gail Gardner-Clevenger of Blood Source was in charge of the day’s blood drive.
“The kids are doing a great job saving lives,” said Gardner-Clevenger.
Deorah Medow, a blood source member who was very pleased with the school’s staff, faculty, and students, was also impressed.
“It’s been a great mix of first-timers and kids that came back to donate more,” said Medow. “I’m impressed with the girls especially for being able to complete the whole proses due to low hemoglobin and iron.” There is also a new law saying teen girls are limited to a certain number of donations in a time period.
Justen Kumar and Xavier Rodriguez two students at FHS, were among those who donated.
“People were passing out but I was just fine after words” said Rodriguez.
“I came for a cookie and to save a life,” commented Kumar.
After talking to a number of participants, it became apparent that everyone that was in that gym was a hero for donating. Some had a history of of giving blood.
“Donating blood is an amazing way to help others in need,” said Josue Alfaro, a senior. “I've have completed donating a half a gallon of blood. I enjoy doing it and I’m proud of it. Why not help others and donate today?”
