Khamida Rizam is a new paraeducator here at Foothill High School. She helps teach a special education course and a broad variety of subjects including science, U.S. history, and world history.
“I like Foothill a lot [because it is the] best high school,” said Rizam.
Rizam is from Tashkent City, Uzbekistan. She came to America in 2001 to get away from Christian persecution. She attended college for three years at Sierra College.
When she started college she majored in nursing, but had to change majors because she lacked sufficient funds. I guess you could say her loss was our gain.
Although she is new to Foothill, Rizam is not new to teaching. Rizam is very experienced with young prople. She has five of her own. She was a substitute for the past four years in this district. Before she was a substitute, she worked at a daycare for three years. She is a paraeducator because she likes to work with kids.
“I’m happy if I can help the students,” said Rizam.
If you’re ever in the area of room S2, I recommend you stop by and introduce yourself to her.
