Cheerleading is a getaway zone from life. It keeps your mind on one thing which is cheering it is fun and it helps get out of one’s shell, meet new people and then perform in front crowds.
“Cheer is the heart of the school,” said Ashley Kelly, Foothill High School's cheer coach. “It’s where all school spirit starts from, so cheer your heart out, Mustangs!”
The cheer team won an award of Most Improved over all at the UCA Cheer Camp.
Marisol Camacho and Kylee Clarke recently tried out for the all-stars. They were invited to cheer at Disney World for a Christmas parade. They were also invited to London, England.
When tryouts came around, 19 girls tried out and one boy did too. A total of 18 made the team. One varsity team was formed, instead of having separate varsity and JV teams.
Team captain Clarke has been cheering for four years. Her best experience about being on the team is flying and meeting new girls. She plans on cheering in college.
Camacho, co-captain, has been cheering for seven years. The best experience she has had is also meeting new people.
