John Van Den Raadt (pronounced van-den-rot) is a new math teacher Foothill High School. Despite his favorite subjects being Algebra 2 and Geometry, he currently teaches integrated math 1 and 2 in the hopes to teach students the wonders of mathematics. He coaches football too; he has been the past four years.
When he was younger, his mother was a teacher, and he believes it was a good reason why he became a teacher in the first place.
“Math was easy,” he stated. “It came to me like second nature.” Van Den Raadt then went on to say that he later attended a Private College where he started majoring in math and learning Calculus.
While attending the college, he joined a program and was transferred to Africa where he taught math for a year before coming back. Currently, he has three years of teaching math under his belt.
“I taught at a private school for two years, and one year at a public school,” Van Den Raadt said.
After college, he travelled and got married, then came to Sacramento looking for a job.
“I moved here not too long ago, and Foothill was the best and most convenient offer,” said Van Den Raadt.
As of right now, he’s teaching in room C-4 and invites students to come to him if they ever need help with any math subject. Feel free to stop by and tell him hi!
