Motivational speaker brings message of RESPECT

Robert Jackson shares his life experiences to help students reflect on their own lives.

There was a motivational speaker who came to Foothill High School and spoke to everyone in the school. The assembly took place between third and fourth periods on Wednesday, September 6.

“You can’t gain respect while being disrespectful,” said Robert Jackson at the beginning of his talk.

Hearing him speak was very inspiring he went on about how being successful, but to be successful you need to work for it. He also talked about struggles of his own as well as how he overcame them and became the man who he is today.

In hearing his message, inspiration and hope filled the crowd. Students were deeply lifted by his words of encouragement. He supplied the audience with an outline where they didn’t have to feel isolated, and showed them that they weren’t alone in their struggles and emotions.

I was personally inspired by what he said and by the end of the assembly I reevaluated my own life. I made a decision that I need to be a lot nicer to the people at this school because I don’t know what people are going through. When he asked everyone to stand if they’re going through troubles at home, a lot of people stood up and that’s what made me think.
