Catching up on sleep in class is not a good idea, sleep is meant for your own bed. Photo by
Are you sleeping enough?

Freshman for freshmen.

When you start high school, depending on where you go, classes might start late or early. For us at Foothill High School, we start at 7:30. That means waking up early; at least I do. I wake up at 6 a.m. every morning. The high school I was going to go to (I decided to come to FHS instead) starts at 8:05 a.m. It may not seem like a big difference, but it really is.

As teenagers, you need eight-10 hours of sleep each night. Not only do some schools start early like us here at Foothill High, other schools start later. If you have an early start, then you need to go to sleep earlier.

The sleep foundation says that turning off your phones and all electronics 30 minutes before you go to bed will help you sleep. They also say that teens need eight-and-a-half hours of sleep at night. Only 15% of teens get the eight-and-a-half hours of sleep a night. When you don't sleep enough, that usually just puts you in a bad mood. Sometimes when I can’t sleep it's because of my biological clock. Depending on what I did that day depends on how long it takes me to fall asleep.

When we teens can’t sleep we are usually on our phones or watching T.V. Most the time there are people awake at midnight or even past that. Not being able to sleep sucks. When I finally fall asleep I usually toss and turn. Everyone has their good nights and bad nights of sleep.

To be able to get enough sleep you need to put the phone down and really just not be on it. Getting enough sleep to be able to wake up in the morning is more important than texting your friends.
